I was honored to be invited by the Peninsula Friends of the Library in Rancho Palos Verdes to talk about Indigenous fashion during their Native American History Month celebration program this past November. It was an incredible experience sharing insights on what Indigenous fashion is, its cultural significance, and how elements of it are present all around us, including in our closets.
During my talk, I broke down some of the popular elements of Native fashion, highlighting how these styles and traditions have influenced mainstream fashion today. The core of my message was simple: Native fashion is everywhere, from modern runway collections to everyday wear. So, take a moment to learn where your clothing is made and recognize the cultural influences that shape the styles we wear.
