I had the privilege of attending The Chapter House LA’s La La Land Back Indigenous drag show, a vibrant celebration of Native American drag performance. It was a night full of energy, talent, and cultural pride, and I had the chance to film the event, capturing the beauty and power of Native American drag artistry. Drag has long been a form of self-expression, and for Indigenous performers, it has become a way to reclaim their heritage, challenge stereotypes, and celebrate the beauty of Native culture through performance.
In recent years, Native American drag has emerged as a powerful expression of culture, identity, and artistry within the LGBTQ+ community. These performers use drag not only to entertain, but also to uplift and reclaim narratives that have been silenced for centuries. Through their performances, they bring awareness to the resilience and strength of Native peoples, creating spaces where Indigenous voices can be celebrated and heard.
